Ingredients:

For the Dessert:

  • 2 scoops gluten-free vanilla ice cream (make sure it’s certified gluten-free)
  • splash milk (you can use dairy-free milk like almond or coconut if needed)
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free chocolate syrup (optional, Hershey’s is gluten-free as of ’23)
  • 1/4 cup gluten-free M&M’s or your favorite gluten-free candy, Heath, Gluten-free Oreo’s (check labels)

For Garnish (optional):

  • Whipped cream (ensure it’s gluten-free)
  • Additional gluten-free chocolate syrup and caramel sauce
  • Crushed gluten-free cookies for added texture (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by gathering all your gluten-free ingredients to ensure there’s no cross-contamination.
  2. In a blender, combine the gluten-free vanilla ice cream, milk, gluten-free chocolate syrup, and gluten-free caramel sauce.
  3. Add gluten-free candies (or your favorite gluten-free candy). Pulse the blender a few times to mix them into the ice cream mixture. You can reserve some for topping if you’d like..
  4. Make sure you only pulse for 5-10 secs. Not too long, if it is mixed for too long the Oreo pieces may turn the ice cream into a brown slur.
  5. Once everything is well mixed, pour the Spooky Treat Dessert into serving glasses.
  6. If desired, top each glass with whipped cream and additional drizzles of gluten-free chocolate syrup and caramel sauce.

The picture below is the final result after I was done experimenting. From what I learned, making sure to not pulsate the blender too much, just enough to make sure the candy is combined well. Otherwise, if its mixed for too long, it all combines together into a brown slurry.
